  • Saint Stephens Christmas Blessings

2020 COVID Christmas Relief for the merrill area community

Due to COVID-19, many area programs that previously helped families facing financial hardships, by providing Christmas gifts for their children, are unable to run their programs this year. Saint Stephens wants to help the families and children in our Merrill area community in some small way, and thus Saint Stephens Christmas Blessings was created. The program is intended to provide a small gift (toy, books, or game)(valued at $20.00) to each child in our community who may not otherwise receive any gifts this Christmas because their families are facing a financial hardship or other difficult situation.

We are also hoping other caring individuals, businesses, and organizations from throughout the Merrill community will join us in our mission to ensure that every child has something to open this Christmas morning to let them know they are loved. And that even in the midst of COVID, we still have the hope of Christmas. Click here to read all about the program and how/why it started here. If you would like to donate to help purchase gifts for area children, click here & select "Christmas Blessings Program 2020" for the Fund.

Families can apply for the Christmas Blessings program by picking up an Application Guide and Application Form at Saint Stephens in the church office, or outside Door #1 in the Blessing Box (even after office hours), or they can download the Application Guide and Application Form here. (Just click the links!)

  • SCRIP PROGRAM

Want to help Saint Stephens earn free money, just by purchasing things you already buy? Use Scrip!

How does it work? You purchase Scrip gift cards from participating merchants from the church at face value. (Example:  You pay $50 for a $50 Kwik Trip Scrip/gift card.) The merchants offer the church a discount when we purchase those Scrip/gift cards from them. The discount (essentially a donation from the merchant) is profit for Saint Stephens. And it doesn't cost you or the church a cent. It's really like Free Money for the church!

Click here to see a list of local businesses that participate in our Scrip program, along with the card denominations offered for each. We try to carry most of these local cards in stock.

We also order cards for shopping at national retailers. Many, like Scrip cards for Walmart, Walgreens, Amazon, Fleet Farm, and Menards, we carry in stock. We are happy to special order Scrip cards from other participating national retailers upon request. Also, if you will be doing a large project, like a building project where you will be purchasing supplies from Menards, we can special order large quantities or larger denominations of Scrip. Think of the $$ Saint Stephens can earn if you're building a garage or a house! Click here to see a complete list of national retailers that participate in our Scrip program. And did you know? You can use Scrip cards when ordering online, as well! They are used just like the gift cards you might receive at Christmas.

Speaking of which ... Scrip cards make great gifts and stocking stuffers at Christmas, basket additions at Easter or in a wedding or shower gift basket, or tucked into a card for any occasion!

In addition, we have several local businesses that will donate a portion of your purchase amount (when you pay by cash or check) to Saint Stephens just by mentioning Scrip to them ... no need for purchasing any kind of Scrip cards in advance. Those participating retailers are:  VIP Office Supply, Miller Furniture, and Courtside Furniture. So don't forget to mention Saint Stephens Scrip when you shop there!
